Some people think the fittest and strongest individual help achieve success in sport. Some people believe success is much related to mental attitude. Discuss both of the view and your own opinion.

With the rising importance of sports in international community, many sports celebrities won a stratospheric level of popularity as Hollywood film stars. Many studies have been undertaken to determine the reasons why some people make outstanding athletes. While it is certainly true that physical prowess is an essential ingredient for sporting success, it is clear that the difference between the 'good' and the 'great' athletes relates more to the mentality of the individual in question.

隨著體育運動在國際社會中的重要性與日俱增，許多體壇明星的受歡迎程度不亞于好萊塢影星。有許多研究用于確定為什么有些人能夠成為優(yōu)秀運動員。誠然，身體素質(zhì)是體育成功的重要因素，但顯然“好”運動員和“杰出”的運動員之間的差異更多地與個人的心態(tài)有關。

Undoubtedly, the key facet for any athlete must be their physical ability to engage in their chosen sport.Without the capacity to run long distances, no long distance runner could hope to achieve success in this particular field of athleticism. Likewise, people adept at ball games must have a technical capability with the ball to be able to reach the highest levels of their profession. Thus, it goes without saying that the most important attributes for any athlete are indeed physical.

毫無疑問，對任何運動員來說，關鍵的方面一定是他們從事所選運動的身體能力。沒有長跑的能力，任何長跑遠動員都不可能在這一特殊的運動領域取得成功。同樣，擅長球類運動的人必須有過硬的球技，才能達到職業(yè)巔峰。因此，毋需多言，任何運動員最重要的特質(zhì)確實是身體。

Nonetheless, the difference between a footballer like Lionel Messi, for example, and a player slightly below his level is surely mental. Outstanding sports professionals are able to reach a higher level of athletic ability because of the mental attributes they are either born with or which they nourish over time. Few football players will ever reach the relentless high standards set by players like Messi and his contemporary, Cristiano Ronaldo. These individuals stand alone purely because of their ability to apply themselves to improving their game and sustaining consistent levels of excellence.

Therefore, while physical attributes underpin the careers of all athletes, those who truly excel must have a higher level of mental application to succeed at the highest level. In other words, it is the mental ability that would propel the good athletes to the level of great or higher success in their career.

因此，雖然身體素質(zhì)是所有職業(yè)運動員的基礎，但那些真正優(yōu)秀的運動員必須有更高層次的精神投入，才能取得最高水平的成功。換言之，心理素質(zhì)是推動好的運動員實現(xiàn)突破，達到事業(yè)更高水平的關鍵。
