張繼

月落烏啼霜滿天，

江楓漁火對愁眠。

姑蘇城外寒山寺，

夜半鐘聲到客船。

Mooring at Night by the Maple Bridge

Zhang Ji

The moon’s down, the crows cry. 

The rime fills the night sky.

By the maples near the river burns a bonfire for the fishers.

A wayfarer sunken in sadness slumbers.

From the Hanshan Temple beyond Suzhou’s bounds,

A bell is sending at midnight to the boat its clear sounds.

清明

杜牧

清明時節(jié)雨紛紛，

路上行人欲斷魂。

借問酒家何處有，

牧童遙指杏花村。

Qingming Festival

Du Mu

There is a fine drizzle in the Qingming days.

With a well-nigh broken heart, travellers wend their way.

‘May I ask where a wine shop is, at this place?’

A cowboy points to the Apricot Village some distance away.

望廬山瀑布

李白

日照香爐生紫煙，

遙望瀑布掛前川。

飛流直下三千尺，

疑是銀河落九天。

A Look at the Waterfall of Mount Lushan

Li Bai

In the sunshine, the Peak Xianglu seems veiled in a purple haze.

The waterfall looks like a suspended river as from afar I gaze.

The torrent right three thousand feet flies.

I wonder if it's the Milky Way falling from the skies.

王翰

葡萄美酒夜光杯，

欲飲琵琶馬上催。

醉臥沙場君莫笑，

古來征戰(zhàn)幾人回？

Song of Liangzhou

Wang Han

There’s the fine wine in the goblet, called Moonshine.

I’m eager to drink this nice wine.

Yet the lute on the horse is urging me to go up to the frontline.

If I should lie drunk in the battlefields, don’t laugh at me at all. 

Since antiquity how many people have returned from wars after all?
