The Department of Political Science offers a wide range of undergraduate programs that are designed for motivated students who wish to excel. Graduates of these programs go on to pursue careers in many fields which may include but are not limited to business, government, public policy, international affairs, and law. Students who complete our Honors programs are well prepared for post-graduate study.

6.0 courses:

1.0 course normally taken in second year: Political Science 2237E.
1.0 course: Political Science 2230E.
1.0 course from Political Science 2231E OR Political Science 2245E.
2.0 additional Political Science designated essay courses (E, F or G) at the 2200 level or above.
1.0 additional Political Science designated essay course (E, F or G) at the 3000 level.

Note: Courses at the 2100 level are suitable for Political Science Minors and non-Political Science students. These courses are topical and do not have essay designations. Students in the Honors Specialization or Major modules in Political Science may register in a maximum of 1.0 of these courses, but 2100-level courses will not count towards their Political Science module.

Applicants must complete the full International Baccalaureate Diploma including each of the following to be considered for admission: Completion of the entire Diploma including the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay; Passes in a minimum of 6 subjects of which 3 must be at the Higher Level; A minimum grade total of 28 including points awarded for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge; No mark less than 4 on any individual course; Prerequisites for your program as specified by Western. Other English Language Requirements accepted: Minimum score required on the TOEFL is 550 on the paper based with a 5 on the TWE, and 83 on the internet-based tests with no score below 20; Pearson Test of English Academic: A minimum overall score of 58 is required with no score less than 56; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): A minimum overall score of 80 is required with no score less than 78; International English Language Testing Service (IELTS): a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0; CanTEST: A minimum overall score of 4.0 is required with no part less than 4.0; CAEL: A minimum overall score of 60 is required with no part less than 60.
