**Optional year in industry**: The year in industry option will help you gain valuable work experience which will help you enhance your graduate employability prospects. During your placement you develop transferable skills such as communication, negotiation, teamwork, leadership, organisation, problem-solving, being able to work under pressure, self-reliance and commercial awareness. At the end of your work placement you return to complete your degree and prepare to enter employment with improved confidence.Our work placement officer and the University’s careers service are available to help you find and apply for your work placement. Advice is also available on job hunting and networking.**Course overview**: Our BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering includes a range of fundamental topics in mechanical engineering, materials engineering and design, as well as specialist aerospace and aeronautical topics such as aerodynamics, aircraft performance, flight dynamics, avionics, aircraft systems, aircraft structures, aircraft design and propulsion systems.Top reasons to study aerospace engineering at Teesside: professional accreditation, real-world experience, state-of-the-art facilities, extra-curricula activities.**After the course**: Most aerospace engineering graduates seek careers in companies directly or indirectly linked to the aerospace industry. However the skills and knowledge you will acquire on your course will also be relevant to other sectors such as the automobile, engineering process, oil and gas, electronics, electrical engineering and renewable energy industries. We prepare you for the world of work by giving you the opportunity to go on work placements, attend industry events (Cleveland Institution of Engineers), take part in company visits and get involved with collaborative research carried out by industry (Nissan, Sabre Rail, Cummins, Caterpillar).

For entry onto a Foundation or Extended programme, applicants require: Huikao (Chinese senior secondary school graduation certificate) Successful completion of the first two years of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 70% or successful completion of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 60%; For entry onto an Undergraduate programme, applicants require: For entry onto Year 1: Huikao (Chinese senior secondary school graduation certificate) Successful completion of Senior Secondary School with a minimum average of 80% Or Gaokao (Chinese university or college entrance exam) with a minimum score of 500; For entry onto Higher National Diploma: Gaokao with a minimum score of 450; For entry onto Integrated Master of Engineering – MEng (Hons): Gaokao with a minimum score of 550; For entry onto Undergraduate top-up programmes (third-year entry); Dazhuan (three-year college graduation diploma) with a minimum of 70% average or, SQA Higher National Diploma with BBC as minimum or, Edexcel Higher National Diploma – standard UK entry requirements or, UK accredited foundation degree. Please refer the university website for details of the English Language requirements for entry to individual undergraduate degree programmes.
