This course offers architects an ARB-prescribed Part II qualification from the pioneer of sustainability practice, the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT). This highly practical course allows you to combine design-based academic study with hands-on learning. Expand your critical awareness of current architectural and environmental problems to develop new insights. You’ll also have the chance to get involved in community projects, allowing you to develop real-world practical experience. Studying MArch: Sustainable Architecture will enable you to:

  • Gain good practical understanding of how established techniques of research and enquiry can be used to create and interpret knowledge central to architectural sustainability.
  • Develop the confidence, aptitude and understanding to show originality in the application of knowledge.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of techniques to become a self-reflective architectural practitioner with a clear philosophical position.
  • Become a dynamic, self-reflective, proficient learner, able to critically evaluate current research methods, interpret results, and propose new hypotheses and solutions.

This course is created and delivered by CAT and validated by the University of East London. Successful completion of the programme MArch Sustainable Architecture at the Centre for Alternative Technology leads to the award of Master of Architecture (MArch) by UEL. The course is prescribed by the Architects Registration Board.
